Schlechte Noten: Update von WWF Ranking belegt anhaltende Schwächen der CDM-Zertifizierer (28.06.2010)
Berlin - Die Arbeit der Gutachter zu Einschätzungen von Klimaprojekten in Entwicklungsländern im Rahmen des Clean Development Mechanismus (CDM) ist nach wie vor schlecht. Eine jährlich durchgeführte Studie des WWF belegt, dass die Arbeit der Gutachterorganisationen weiterhin häufig von der UN bemängelt wird. Auf einer Skala von A (Beste) bis F (Schlechteste) wurde als „beste“ Bewertung lediglich einmal D vergeben.
UN bewilligt erstmals konkrete Projekte zum Schutz vor Klimawandel (17.06.2010)
Gestern (16.06.10) endete in Bonn das 10. Treffen des Steuerungsgremiums des UN-Anpassungsfonds. Zum ersten Mal wurden dabei die Entwürfe für konkrete Projekte zur Anpassung an die Folgen des Klimawandels in Entwicklungsländern bewilligt.

UN-REDD: Agreement of around 50 countries to protect rainforest (27.05.2010)
Today (27.05.10) heads of state and government, ministers and other representatives of some 50 countries concluded an agreement on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation. Around NOK 25 billion has been pledged for the period 2010–2012 for measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries.
Gold Fields setzt auf eigene CDM-Projekte mit Methangas (27.05.2010)
Der südafrikanische Goldminenbetreiber Gold Fields Ltd will nach eigenen Angaben als erstes Unternehmen der Branche Minderungszertifikate im Rahmen eines CDM-Projektes generieren. In der Goldmine Beatrix soll nach Unternehmensangaben Methangas aufgefangen werden. CEO Nick Holland strich hervor, dass das Minderungsprojekt auch die Sicherheit der Arbeiter untertage erhöhe.
Kooperation von KfW und BOS steigert Energieeffizienz in Polen und generiert Emissionszertifikate (21.05.2010)
Die KfW Bankengruppe und die polnische Umweltbank (BOS Bank), verbessern gemeinsam den Klimaschutz durch Kredite zur energetischen Gebäudesanierung und industrieller Energieeffizienz in Polen, da der Bedarf an energetischer Sanierung dort immer noch sehr hoch ist. Außerdem haben insbesondere deutsche und europäische Unternehmen die Möglichkeit, günstige Emissionszertifikate, die durch die CO2-Einsparungen der Maßnahmen generiert werden können, zu erwerben.
DEG fördert Klimaschutztechnologie in China (18.05.2010)
Umwelt- und Klimaschutzförderung zählen zu den Schwerpunkten des DEG-Geschäfts in China. Gerade bei der Verringerung von Kohlendioxidemissionen gibt es dort großen Handlungsbedarf. Daher gewährt die DEG - Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH der Xi'an TCH Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Xi'an TCH) ein beteiligungsähnliches Darlehen in Höhe von 18 Mio. US-Dollar. Das Unternehmen errichtet damit in der inneren Mongolei und im Südosten Chinas zwei Anlagen, die aus industrieller Abwärme Energie erzeugen.
Indonesien: Torfwald schützen und Gewinne ermöglichen (23.04.2010)

Das CDM Executive Board hat eine neue Small-scale-Methodik im Bereich Abfallwirtschaft genehmigt. Mit der Verwertung und dem Recycling von thermoplastischen Kunststoffen hoher (HDPE) und niedriger (LDPE) Dichte, wie sie in kommunalen festen Abfällen vorkommen, können künftig Minderungszertifikate generiert werden.
TÜV NORD CERT durch UNFCCC re-akkreditiiert (29.03.2010)
Hannover - Nach der Erst-Akkreditierung im Jahr 2005 und einem erfolgreich bestandenen Spotcheck im Februar 2010 wurde TÜV NORD CERT nun von der UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) erfolgreich für weitere drei Jahre für die Überprüfung von internationalen Klimaschutzprojekten re-akkreditiert. Damit sei die Basis gegeben, auf der TÜV NORD CERT die weltweiten Bemühungen um die Reduzierung von Treibhausgasen als Prüforganisation begleiten kann, teilte das Unternehmen mit.
Genehmigt: Erste CDM-Methodologie für die Zufeuerung von Biomasse in Großkraftwerken (11.02.2010)
Dublin - EcoSecurities, ein führendes Unternehmen im Bereich der Beschaffung, Entwicklung und Handel von CO2-Gutscheinen aus Projekten zur Reduzierung von Treibhausgasemissionen, hat vor kurzem vom Clean Development Mechanism Executive Board (CDM EB) mit Erfolg die Zustimmung für seine elfte Methodologie erhalten. Durch eine erneuerbare Energietechnologie, die als Zufeuerung bekannt ist, ermöglicht diese Methodologie die Substitution von Kohle durch feste Biomassebrennstoffe in netzgebundenen Kraftwerken und damit eine Reduzierung der CO2-Emissionen und unterstützt Unternehmen bei der Einhaltung ihrer Ziele im Hinblick auf die erneuerbaren Energien.
DEG: Rekord-Neugeschäft in Afrika - Über 160 Mio. Euro für Klimaschutz-Projekte (09.02.2010)
Zum dritten Mal in Folge hat die DEG - Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH ein Neugeschäft über einer Milliarde Euro erzielt. Sie sagte im vergangenen Jahr rund 1,01 Mrd. Euro für die Finanzierung privater Investitionen in Entwicklungs- und Schwellenländern zu (2008: 1,22 Mrd. Euro). "Gerade zu einer Zeit, in der die Finanzströme in die Entwicklungsländer deutlich zurückgegangen sind, ist die unternehmerische Entwicklungszusammenarbeit gefordert, um privatwirtschaftliches Engagement zu fördern", sagte Bruno Wenn, Sprecher der DEG-Geschäftsführung, anlässlich der Jahrespressekonferenz in Köln.
Schweizer Postkunden geben Klimaschutzprojekt per Internet den Zuschlag (02.02.2010)
Seit einem Jahr können bei der Schweizerischen Post Briefe, Pakete und Güter mit dem «pro clima»-Zuschlag klimaneutral versendet werden. Die CO2-Emissionen der im Jahr 2009 aufgegebenen 55 Millionen «pro clima»-Sendungen werden nun über das von der Weltbank als bestes Umweltprojekt 2009 ausgezeichnete Abfalldeponiegaskraftwerk in der Türkei kompensiert. Dies haben 61 Prozent von 2691 Kundinnen und Kunden der Schweizerischen Post in einer Internetwahl entschieden.
USD 252 million project becomes first US VCS registered project (29.01.2010)
ACCIONA announced that the company’s Red Hills Wind Farm is the first in the U.S. to be validated and registered under the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS), and listed on APX’s VCS Carbon Registry. Red Hills is a wind farm built in Oklahoma, a state with no RPS, and therefore no possibility for generating compliance RECs.

JIM.NRW schüttet Erlös aus dem Zertifikatehandel aus (28.12.2009)
Für 26 Unternehmen und Kommunen aus NRW zahlt sich ihr Klimaschutzengagement in Euro aus. Die Teilnehmer des Joint Implementation Modellprojekts Nordrhein-Westfalen, kurz JIM.NRW, erzielten durch die Investition in klimafreundliche Energietechnologie in den vergangenen zwölf Monaten CO2-Einsparungen in Höhe von 5.600 Tonnen. Diese Einsparung werden jetzt von unabhängigen Experten geprüft und können dann von der EnergieAgentur.NRW als Projektträger in handelbare Zertifikate umgewandelt werden.

Dank Begleitung durch die bundeseigene GTZ startet damit nach zwei Jahren Vorbereitungen ein bisher einmaliges Projekt zur CO2-Bindung zwischen einem privaten deutschen Unternehmen und einem asiatischen Staat.

Abfackelung von Grubengas in der Heißfackel Nordschacht ist JI-Projekt
Anfang Juni 2009 nahm Evonik New Energies die Heißfackel am noch aktiven Nordschacht des Bergwerks Saar in Betrieb. Die Hochtemperaturfackel wandelt nicht verwertbares Grubengas (CH4) durch Verbrennung in CO2 um. Mit der Heißfackel am Nordschacht wird ein JI-Projekt (Joint-Implementation-Projekt) gemäß dem Kyoto-Protokoll umgesetzt.
World Bank to buy 500,000 forestry CERs from Democratic Republic of Congo (05.08.2009)
A reforestation project on the Plateau of Bateke in the Democratic Republic of Congo will generate important environmental benefits to the local community as well social services through an innovative financing scheme. By reforesting 4,200 hectares of degraded land, the Ibi Bateke Carbon Sink Plantation Project will trap an estimated 2.4 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) over the next 30 years, generating emission reductions that will be sold to finance the expansion of the project as well as health, education and agro-forestry activities in the local community, some 150 kilometers from the capital of Kinshasa.

Origin Energy Limited (“Origin”) and Carbon Conscious Limited today announced the completion of an agreement for what the parties believe will be the largest CPRS bio sequestration project in Australia to date, should all options be exercised. Seit dem 01.01.2008 läuft die 2. Handelsperiode des Emissionshandels. Zwar haben bisher nur einige Betreiber Zuteilungsbescheide erhalten. Klar ist doch schon jetzt: Allein wegen der deutlich reduzierten Mengen an Zertifikaten, die in den kommenden Wochen zugeteilt werden, muss mancher Betreiber künftig mit einer erheblichen Unterausstattung rechnen. Die benötigten Zertifikate werden umgekehrt teurer.
